Racing Level Design

For Game Design II, we are making racing level. My racing level theme is abandoned zoo. I think it is interesting because zoo has many zones so the player will not feel like it is boring.

The last location is an old building. For the first and the second round of the race, the old building will look like it is going to collapse. For the last round, the old building collapse or explode for cool and epic ending.

Here is the picture of my racing level design.

Landmarks: Zoo Entrance, Big Baobab Trees, Glass dorm, Lion Zone (canyon), Glass Dorm, Old Building

Here are pictures of my early sketches.

Spiky Block in UE4

In Programming Class, we learned how to make Spiky Block for our game. We added face on and colors it after so it looks cute. The picture below shows the blueprint that we made for Spiky block.
The Spiky Block was kind of hard to make since we have to set timeline, colors, and other stuff for it. Although it was hard, I had fun. The Spiky Block makes our games more interesting.

Robot Needs Puppy Tutorial Level Analysis

Robot Wants Puppy is a game sequel to Robot Wants Kitty. In this game, the player is a robot and the goal is to get keys to rescue a puppy in the least amount of time possible. The first level in the game quickly introduces the mechanic.

Level layout (Level 1)

At the start, the game tells the player to move with arrow keys and collect the powers to rescue the puppy. The player learns how to move. He or she will understand that his or her goal is getting back to where he or she start to rescue the puppy. Without the access card or key, he or she can not unlock the door to get to the puppy. The number on the door tells the player which number of access card he or she will need to unlock the door. The player then find out what will happen when moving the robot to touch the alien. The player will figure out that  he or she can not kill the alien. The player needs to get power-ups to get Kitty Kannon to kill the alien.
Starting point

After the player gets the power-ups. The game tells the player how to use the Kitty Kannon. The player will try to kill the alien and then figure that after killing one he or she needs to pick the kitty up. Next, the player will reach checkpoint.
 First checkpoint

The player will find the key or access card that has number on it. The player has to collect them to get to another level.
Access card or key
The game doesn't tell much about how to play it. The player needs to figure out by him or herself a lot. The aliens are hard to kill since after the player shoots the kitty at them they will run toward the robot and the robot will get kill easily. The player also needs to pick up the kitty every single time he or she use it and it is not easy to shoot the aliens or get it back without dying.

There are many kind of enemies, it gets harder and harder to kill them. These makes the player keeps playing the game but at the same time, it annoys him or her on how ridiculous it is.  The player also needs to watch out for the time he or she use in the game. The checkpoint makes the player feel like he or she is safe. He or she doesn't need to go back to the starting point anymore. When player gets access card or key and unlock a door, the player will feel like he or she accomplishes something. The player finally pass the levels.

Theme: Courting/ dating game
Concept Statement: Play as fangirls, compete with each other to get oppa's attention!

The players will play as K-Pop fangirls. They are going to compete with each other to get noticed by oppa whom they most admire. (Oppa is a name for a not-too-much older male, or for her beloved Korean man. Korean girls usually use this word to act charming).

Space/ time/ culture: The setting will be in Korea with modern Korea culture.
